Originally, the city was mentioned in two of these dialogues. In 360 BC, Plato told his disciples about the city.

Many archaeologists claim that the city of Atlantic is a city imagined by Plato. But according to the old documents related to this, this claim of the archaeologists is completely baseless.

From the writings of Plato, it is known that the Greek sage "Solon" was the first to know about the mysterious city of Atlantis. Interestingly, Solon did not know about this city before.

The great sage Solon learned of this city from an Egyptian priest. The story of this city of Atlantis, heard from an Egyptian priest, is told by Solon to one of his relatives, "Dropides."

Atlantis is the name of a city

One of the most common ideas about the city of Atlantis is that the city is called Atlantis because it is located near the Atlantic Ocean. The idea is completely wrong.

According to Plato, the Greek god Poseidon (according to the Greeks he was the god of the sea) was the king of Atlantis. Poseidon's wife Clotter was very beautiful.

Poseidon built a magnificent palace for his wife at the top of a hill in the middle of the Atlantic island. They had five pairs of twins. The sea god entrusted his ten children to rule over different parts of the island.

One of his eldest twins was named Atlas. Poseidon entrusted Atlas to rule a part of the island. That part of the island is named Atlantis after Poseidon's son Atlas.

Atlas later took possession of the entire island and the area around the sea, and the whole island was named after him, Atlantis.

What was that city like?

According to Plato, Atlantis was a paradise. The soil was very fertile.

Farmers used to grow various crops there, and they used to grow various fruits and vegetables. There was no shortage of crops in the city.

The vast area of this state was full of beautiful colorful flowers. Surrounded by stunning natural beauty, this state also had no shortage of mineral resources like gold, silver, copper etc.

The irrigation system here was highly developed. Farmers' houses were built near the hill villages. The city of Atlantis was surrounded by beautiful palaces, ports and temples. The buildings were made of gold and silver.

The main attraction of this city was the statue of a sea god. The statue is thought to have belonged to the Greek sea god Poseidon.

The capital was located on the top of a green hill. There were several moats around the hill. The trenches were connected to each other by canals.

The outer moat was connected to the sea by a canal. These canals were mainly used for trade and commerce with different states by sea.

The houses in the city of Atlantis had all the modern arrangements. Stone walls made of precious metal, huge gold statues, hot and cold water fountains, and many other facilities were attached to the houses.

But many researchers disagree on this point. Some people call it pure fantasy. According to them, “it is truly inconceivable that such a highly intelligent naval civilization would have formed on the face of the earth at the beginning of the Stone Age, nine thousand years before the time described by Plato.”

Destruction is the heavenly city

According to Plato's writings, the city became extinct about 1,500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ.

Regarding the destruction of the city, Plato wrote: “Poseidon entrusted his ten sons to rule each part of the country. There was peace. But gradually the tensions grew between the ten. The Zeus of heaven then decided that they should be taught. That is why he called the gods and hurriedly arranged a meeting. “

The story of Plato came to a halt here. What happened next is not known. Although the last part of it is said by many as their own.

The last part of  doctrine that is most prevalent is that “this city is destroyed by the wrath of Zeus, the god of heaven.” However, many later researchers have differed on the origin of Atlantis. Notable among them is the Greek archaeologist “Angelo's Gallanopoulo”.

At the end of the sixties of the last century, his theory changed the way everyone thought about Atlantis. According to the doctrine of Angelo's Gallanopolo, “A terrible volcano erupted on the Mediterranean island of Santorini around 1,500 BC.

The sudden eruption of the volcano caused a terrible earthquake and strong tidal wave throughout the city. As a result, the city sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in one night. And with that, as many signs of an advanced civilization are erased. “

So far this doctrine is considered to be true, because another famous sea explorer, Robert Ballard, who found the wreckage of the Titanic, agrees with this theory.

Location of Atlantis

Although its exact location has not yet been determined. Archaeologists have identified different places at different times as the lost Atlantis. But they could not present any strong evidence.

According to many researchers, Atlantis was located near the Greek island of Crete. According to some, Atlantis is the Greek city of Santorini. According to some, Atlantis may be located in the Andes Mountains of Bolivia, or even in Africa.

"The ruins of Atlantis can be found where the Hall of Records was discovered, between the Nile and the Sphinx statues in Egypt," he said.

In 2011, Hutford University archaeologist "Richard Freund" and his team discovered several cities. They think the city of Atlantis was right here. 

The existence of these cities has been found at the bottom of the swamp forest in Dona National Park, north of a city called "Cadiz" in Spain.

 Unfortunately, no researchers have yet been able to confirm the exact location of Atlantis.

What is Atlantis? Or is it mere imagination?

Atlantis existed or not? Historians have not yet been able to agree on whether Plato's story is a myth.

Critias, however, claimed that he had heard the story from the great sage Solon. Note that Solon was a famous policymaker in Athens in the sixth century BC.

Many researchers speculate that when Solon visited Egypt, he learned about Athens and Atlantis from some ancient texts there.

Another party thinks that, this Atlantis is just Plato's imagination. They think that Plato wrote this story of Atlantis inspired by some ancient war stories.
