Lake Natron Tanzania: Turns Animals to Stone
This world of ours is huge beauty and mystery. Mysteries are scattered all over this world. Ever since human civilization began its journey, the unsolved mysteries of this world have repeatedly attracted people. That is why people have risked their lives time and time again to get unsolved mysteries.
Today I will talk about a place where death and beauty live together. Lake Natron is one of the most amazing lakes in the world.
As soon as we say lake, clear beautiful water flows in front of our eyes. Where diving will cool the body and mind, but there are some lakes where you dive away from cooling your body, you will be transformed into a mummy in Egypt.
Shocking to hear, Lake Natron is such a terribly wonderful lake. The lake is 56 km long, 22 km wide and 9.8 km deep and is located in the Arusha region of Tanzania, South Africa.
Many famous pictures of the world which were responded to all over the world were taken in this region. It is called the “natural mummy factory” because any animal, bird or human being drowned in the lake for some time turns into a living mummy.
Why is this happening? What could be the secret behind the horror of this other beautiful lake?
The research begins.
It is known that next to the lake there is a rare nature volcano called “Ol Danno Lengai”. The volcano is active and it erupts lava rich in “sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate”. Their combination is collectively called “natrocarbonite” or “neutron” and was the main ingredient in mummy making in ancient times.
In addition, the waters of the Evasa Niagara River and several nearby warm springs flow into the lake, enriching it with a variety of minerals. This lake is so alkaline that its pH level is above 10.5. The water in this lake is very low in calcium and magnesium.
The answer is that “flamingos” have a special gland in their noses. As a result, they can separate “neutrons” from the water. Their powerful stomachs are able to digest the pollutants of the lake. Their feet have special flake, so they can stay in the water for a long duration.
If you ever have time, you will come back to this wonderful wetland. See how death and beauty are living together there. You can enjoy the noise of flamingos. But be careful not to get into the water.
